Connie, aka Constar, has been a major contributor to New York City’s underground electronic scene for nearly a decade. With a deep fluid mix of forward thinking 4/4 styles and a defined rhythmic sensibility that flows from her alter ego as a thumping rock drummer, Connie is a steady crowd favorite and an accomplished pro who always brings the goods. Whether it is as resident DJ for ReSolute, one of NYC’s hottest itinerant underground parties, or on the road touring from Brazil to Dubai, Connie’s innate aptitude and vigorous devotion to her craft have earned her turns alongside a litany of techno’s best, whom she frequently, but humbly outshines. Connie has been progressively making a name for herself in the techno world. Some of the highlights have been: winning first place in the Village Voice ‘Spinoff Contest’, which landed her a spot at Ultrafest, two appearances at WMC’s infamous Made Events’ Sunday School For Degenerates, an appearance at Canada’s biggest techno party Piknic Electronik, and more recently Time Warp in NYC. Determinedly, Connie uses her own success to inspire other women to enter the male-dominated world of DJing. To date she has privately trained 15 students and in partnership with Halcyon Record Store, ran ‘Ladies Night,’ a weekly showcase for up-and-coming female DJ talent. In 2009, Connie’s first productions, under the name ‘Constar,’ debuted on the Boston-based Airdrop imprint.
Currently, Connie is back in the studio focusing on production. Her latest track released in October 2014, “Finding Yusef” on Jyre Records, was chosen by John Digweed to be included in his four-CD and vinyl compilation on Bedrock Records, which was released in December 2014.
Connie also spends alot of her time in the studio on a myriad of other music projects including finishing up new wave album with members of her old band Jaded Lover; and playing drums with Pacifico, a 3-piece indie-grunge band.
